It’s a sneaky weekend at the movies! This edition of What We’re Watching on That Hashtag Show focuses on law & order. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tackle these high-profile releases. Dreamworks Animation reunites audiences with their favorite Bad Guys! The Naked Gun is bringing comedy back. Let’s get into all the wonderful entertainment this weekend!

The Bad Guys 2 – In Theaters Now

The bad guys are back and Dreamworks Animation has something for the young ones. Mr Wolf, Mr Snake Mr Piranha, Ms. Tarantula, and Mr Shark are all here for another batch of capers. Pierre Perifel returns to direct The Bad Guys 2. Yeah, the crew saved the world last time out, but what happens to former bad guys when they try to go on the straight and narrow. Some amazing animation really lifts this Fisher Price caper.

The Naked Gun – In Theaters Now

2025 has been a little weird. How weird? Well, there’s a new Naked Gun movie out, and it’s good! The Rotten Tomatoes score isn’t lying folks. Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson star. I think that casting kind of gives the game away. So much of the marketing is leaning into the “they don’t make ‘em like this anymore!” (debatable at best!) But, we did have a great time laughing at Naked Gun here on THS.

Fantastic Four: First Steps – In Theaters Now

It’s been a long time coming, but there’s finally a good Fantastic Four movie. Fantastic Four: First Steps is Marvel Studios’ first crack at the titular family. Matt Shakman’s movie is a visual marvel and these actors have great chemistry together. The retrofuture aesthetic is completely unique among superhero films. Marvel and DC both decided to look towards the past this summer and it’s paying off big time.

WWE SummerSlam – In Theaters Saturday & Sunday??!?!

Yes, Summerslam is streaming at home on Peacock for you! But Fandango is trying out a Premium Live Event in a packed theater with other wrestling fans. Now, you probably don’t have the money to just up and fly to New Jersey. So, this is the next best thing. CM Punk vs. Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship? Cody Rhodes trying to recapture the WWE Title from “bad guy” John Cena? There’s enough intrigue for two days here.

Chief of War – Streaming on Apple TV+

Jason Momoa takes on a historical epic this time in Chief of War. This guy is always playing a powerful figure in one way or another. (Heck this is just the latest prospective monarch he’s brought to life.) Against the backdrop of Hawaii during colonialization, political maneuvering is at an all time high. But can anyone unite these very different people under one banner?

Happy Gilmore 2 – Streaming on Netflix

Can you believe it took this long to get to a Happy Gilmore sequel? Well, Adam Sandler stars in the long-awaited follow-up to one of his most beloved roles. Happy’s seen better days, but when the need to provide for his family comes calling, he dusts off the old hockey stick and picks golf back up. Are you a fan of the first one? Yes? Okay, then you’ll laugh a lot!

Eyes of Wakanda – Streaming on Disney+

The Black Panther has been largely absent since Ryan Coogler’s gorgeous follow-up to the first movie a few years ago. Showrunner Todd Harris takes us back to the most interesting country in Marvel for a four-part mini series, Eyes of Wakanda. There’s no worries about a multiverse this time, and Eyes of Wakanda does actually link to the main Black Panther story, believe it or not! If you’re a Marvel fan riding high off of Fantastic Four: First Steps, go ahead and give this a watch.

Heads of State – Streaming on Prime Video

John Cena and Idris Elba are an odd couple as the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the U.K. This action comedy pairs two very different actors together, with Priyanka Chopra’s infinitely more capable MI6 agent. This one is a gas and really doing numbers on Prime Video’s streaming charts! If you love a ridiculous parody, you’re in the right place!

Twisted Metal – Streaming on Peacock

Anthony Mackie’s John Doe is never too far from some vehicular mayhem. Twisted Metal Season 2 serves up more wild comedy on Peacock. Anthony Carrigan joins the cast of characters this time around. If you’re just looking for a fun TV show for adults that doesn’t take itself very seriously, you’ve come to the right place. Stephanie Beatriz and Will Arnett are hysterical in this show.
