The Social Network Part II might have found it’s Mark Zuckerberg. The Hollywood Reporter says that Jeremy Strong is circling the role in their latest piece. Jesse Eisenberg played the controversial social media magnate in the 2010 feature. After he decided not to return for the sequel, the search was on for a suitable replacement. Succession’s success actually makes Strong a pretty understandable choice for the role of Zuckerberg. He’s demonstrated that ability to display the inane nonsense that occurs regularly in big business so well.
Facebook’s CEO was the centerpiece of the original Social Network. It feels like that might be Jesse Eisenberg’s signature role. Mikey Madison and Jeremy Allen White are the other names up for consideration. Aaron Sorkin directs this time and wants to make sure he gets the man at the center of this tale right. THR’s reporting indicates that there have been no former offers extended. But, the development timetable is moving rapidly as various forces inside of Sony want to revisit the well of The Social Network.
The Social Network Part II might have found Zuckerberg

Deadline previously offered a window into what the sequel could be trying to accomplish: “Since its release, Sorkin has noted on several occasions his interest in doing a follow-up, but he couldn’t find the right angle. Following the events of January 6, 2020, when the U.S. Capitol was attacked, Sorkin found new inspiration saying in an interview last year that he believed Facebook played a part.”
David Fincher was behind the camera for the first Social Network. But, this time Sorkin is prominently positioned as the director. It’s been a good time at the theater for the Hollywood staple. He’s directed Molly’s Game, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and Being The Ricardos, just to name a few. With the possible addition of Jeremy Strong, the ensemble continues to take shape. Eisenberg’s absence as Zuckerberg could be a very real hurdle for the production though!
