If you can’t wait for The Boys final season, fear not. A return trip to the Vought universe is a lot nearer than you realize. Season 2 of Gen V, the diabolical, “brilliantly unhinged” spinoff hits Amazon Prime this coming September. If what we saw at Comic-Con International (SDCC 2025) this afternoon is any indication, the students at Godolkin University are going to be in over their heads even deeper than before.

Writer Michele Fazekas gave a little hint of what’s to come in Season 2, admitting that a good portion of development involved comparing each of the Gen V characters to Homelander…. And positing who would win in a fight. (Foreshadowing?) She went on to talk about how important, and fun, coming up with the characters’ powers can be. “The funs ones come when you need someone to do something so you invent a new super-power… One new student this season has the dumbest power, and she’s really upset about that.”

Gen V at SDCC:  bigger, badder, more emotional

Powers will certainly be key to the events of the show’s upcoming season. Characters will most definitely be “levelling up,” both in terms of their powers, and emotions. “Everyone loses control at one point or another,” teased Fazekas. And Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (Derek Luh and London Thor), and the others are going to need every bit of their Gen V powers in Homelander’s America… And some help from The Boys. As we saw in the trailer, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) will feature heavily in Season 2. Will she help Maria hone and grow her powers to combat Homelander himself? That was certainly the tease.

As Maddie Phillips (Cate) told the SDCC crowd, “these kids overpowered Frenchie and Kimiko so now anything goes.”

Anything goes – there couldn’t be a better way to describe Gen V Season 2. The first three episodes air on Prime Video September 17.
