Wow, the summer has reached a crescendo and there’s so much to watch. Welcome back to What We’re Watching on That Hashtag Show! There are tons of high-profile releases in theaters and at home this weekend. Margaret Qualley looks for a mystery and KPOP fans can sing their hearts out. Let’s get into a packed weekend of entertainment!

Honey Don’t! – In Theaters Now

Margaret Qualley stars as Honey O’Donoghue, a private investigator on the trail of some mysterious disappearings in a sketchy Church. Ethan Cohen directs this stylish entry. It’s been such an interesting summer at the movies and this is another project with a completely different tone than the movies that preceded it even this month.

Eden – In Theaters Now

Ron Howard is back with Eden. This tense Thriller stars Jude Law, Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby, Daniel Brühl, and Sydney Sweeney. When a group decides to run away to a far off Island to form a colony away from society, none of them could have anticipated that their biggest challenge wouldn’t come from a different climate. Instead, the thing most likely to take you out is the person sitting next to you.

KPOP DEMON HUNTERS – When they aren’t selling out stadiums, Kpop superstars Rumi, Mira and Zoey use their secret identities as badass demon hunters to protect their fans from an ever-present supernatural threat. Together, they must face their biggest enemy yet – an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise. ©2025 Netflix

KPop Demon Hunters – In Theaters Now

Netflix brings the surprise Smash Hit to theaters with an added twist. K-Pop Demon Hunters Sing Along is in theaters for just this weekend. That Hashtag Show was lucky enough to attend a preview of that experience. And, if your city is anything like that pack theater was, you’re going to be in for an amazing time. Nothing hits quite as hard as golden in a room full of screaming fans.

Fixed – Streaming on Netflix

Genndy Tartakovsky’s raunchy adult animated comedy is streaming on Netflix. He’s been working on this with a team of talented artists for more than a decade. Sony Animation’s wild summer continues with a stacked voice cast including Adam DeVine, Idris Elba, Kathryn Hahn and River Gallo! It’s an absolute hoot (And, absolutely NOT for children.)

Highest 2 Lowest – In Theaters now

Denzel Washington and Spike Lee reunite for a unique riff on a Kurasowa classic. The press tour has been a hoot to see from afar. Apple Studios and A24 collabed on this one. It’s stylish, but you expect that with these names at the top of the marquee. More than anything, Highest 2 Lowest represents another chance to see one of our greatest living filmmakers team-ing up with a personal favorite actor. It’s a partnership that’s stood the test of time.

Peacemaker – Streaming on HBO Max

It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Christopher Smith. John Cena’s Suicide Squad band-member is now the resident of another universe, the new DCU. (Wait, what did you think I meant?) Well, he’s also doing the multiverse thing in Season 2 of Peacemaker. It’s emotional, gross, and silly in parts, but that’s what makes this story human. Peacemaker is probably best when he’s doing a bunch of hysterical back and forth with Danielle Brooks, but there’s plenty of action here too.

Butterfly – Streaming on Prime Video

The biggest show on Prime Video is up there on the charts for a reason. Daniel Dae Kim stars alongside Reina Hardesty. After a life in the shadows, a former U.S. intelligence member lives in South Korea. His isolation is blown to smithereens when his past comes to find him. Now, a younger assassin is hired to take him out and things are going to get explosive. Based on a graphic novel and worth a spin.
