Fans of One Piece since the very earliest days will recall a certain sperm whale named Laboon. He was a very important side character in those early days too, despite being merely a giga-sized whale. His backstory with Brook combined with his abilities made him an especially memorable part of the manga and the resulting anime. And soon, we shall see what Laboon looks like in live-action too.
Netflix is proud to give us a first look at what live-action Laboon looks like in their upcoming ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line. That first look not only includes a new key art, but also some new photos showing off the Straw Hat Pirates and Laboon alike. You can check out all of the above below:

ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line Gives Us Epic Laboon
It’s pretty clear that Netflix is definitely going with a more epic and grand version of Laboon for their live-action One Piece. It’s what that semi-realistic look to live-action Laboon gives off in terms of feeling, especially with that focus on making him look more like a sperm whale than the Island Whale he is in the manga and anime. And yet, there are also touches of cuteness to him, mostly in the eyes. Those big dark eyes that feel like they’re melting your soul with their wet puppy look. That combined with the hyper-realistic scarring pattern on the surface of his melon gives a nice contrast to his look, and makes me genuinely curious as to how they’ll depict this wooby of a whale.
What do you all think? Does seeing this glimpse of how live-action Laboon will look make you eager to check out ONE PIECE: Into the Grand Line when it makes its debut sometime in 2026? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
