Kick off the new year by heading back to The Pitt. HBO Max’s successful medical drama returns for season 2 on January 8.
The critically acclaimed first season followed workers at a hospital in Pittsburgh, aiming to provide a realistic examination of the challenges in the healthcare industry. The show’s unique format captivated viewers; the entire season takes place over a single shift in ‘The Pitt,’ with each episode of the show covering one hour of the shift time.
In season 2, we’ll see a new shift taking place over Independence Day. Check out the trailer for the upcoming season below.
The trailer teases a number of challenges and dramatic turns in its sophomore season, from Dr. Robby’s planned sabbatical to the return of both charge nurse Dana (after having taken a break from the hospital) and Dr. Langdon (who took a very different kind of break). Plus, in addition to dealing with the influx of ER visits during the holiday, the crew in The Pitt will apparently also get stuck working without computers for a while. So, suffice it to say the stakes on this show remain as high as ever.
The Pitt stars Noah Wyle (Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch), Patrick Ball (Dr. Langdon), Katherine LaNasa (Dana Evans), Supriya Ganesh (Dr. Mohan), Fiona Dourif (Dr. McKay), Taylor Dearden (Dr. King), Isa Briones (Dr. Santos), Gerran Howell (Whitaker), Shabana Azeez (Javadi), and Sepideh Moafi (Dr. Al-Hashimi).
Season 1 of The Pitt landed 13 Emmy nominations, ultimately taking home five wins; these included Outstanding Drama Series, as well as acting wins for Wyle and LaNasa. The show also received Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards nods.
