The Witcher is quite possibly one of the most famous dark fantasy franchises in the world right now. In large part because Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski wrote a banger of a tale with the original books, which resulted in it branching out into, among other things, an entire video game franchise by CD Projekt Red, and (more relevantly) a Netflix series by creator Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich. It’s a TV series that has proven to be quite popular, with three seasons spanning 24 episodes so far. In fact, it’s so popular that we shall soon get a Season 4, and that’s why we’re getting this bit of news today.

Netflix is proud to announce their upcoming The Witcher Season 4 with a brand new trailer and even some photos. That trailer even reveals that we’re going to get to see this fourth season on October 30, 2025. Only on Netflix, of course. You can watch that trailer either on YouTube, or just look below:

As for the photos? Well, all you have to do is look below as well:

The Witcher Season 4 Debuts New Season Without Henry Cavill

As you might’ve noticed by reading the comments, the biggest thing here in this The Witcher Season 4 trailer is the distinct lack of Henry Cavill. He played Geralt of Rivia for the last three seasons, only to quite suddenly leave the show over apparent creative differences, which resulted in Liam Hemsworth taking over the role here in Season 4. As you might guess, this is creating a notable amount of friction with longtime fans.

The trailer isn’t really making things much better since the tone can be a bit…clashing with the original The Witcher. The mention of armies almost makes it sound like Lauren Schmidt-Hissrich wants a more cinematic and epic experience akin to The Lord of the Rings movies…which is not what The Witcher is about. The latter is a distinctly low fantasy setting compared to the high fantasy of J.R.R. Tolkien’s story. Alas, all we can do at this point is to hope that Season 4 isn’t as bad as the trailer makes it out to be.
