One of Netflix’s most successful ventures into reality television has been Love is Blind, a dating show where contestants are kept separate from one another. Now, the streamer will bring the same concept to a different type of reality series. Love is Blind meets The Voice in the new show Building the Band.

Here’s the series description from Netflix:

Building the Band brings together talented singers for a truly unique competition show where building the perfect band is all about chemistry. The singers are in complete control as they seek to form their very own bands in individual ‘booths’ without ever seeing each other. All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit. What will happen when the bands finally meet, and looks, choreography, and style come into play? With incredible performances, compelling drama, and one big goal—to find the next great music band—the stage is set for an unforgettable experience.”

Along with the contestants eager to find their bandmates, Building the Band features several music celebrities to help guide the show. AJ McLean (of the Backstreet Boys) serves as the show’s host. Nicole Scherzinger (The Pussycat Dolls) serves as mentor and judge. Additionally, Kelly Rowland (Destiny’s Child) and the late Liam Payne (One Direction) also serve as guest judges.

Payne’s appearance is particularly significant as the singer died last fall. Netflix says Payne’s family reviewed Building the Band and supports his inclusion in the project.

Building the Band officially premieres on Netflix July 9 with multiple episodes. New batches of episodes will then release weekly on subsequent Wednesdays. See the episode release schedule below:
