The crew of the USS Enterprise will stick around for a few more adventures. Paramount+ announced today Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will return for a fifth season.

The fifth installment will also serve as the show’s final season. The season will feature a slightly reduced episode count – six total episodes, instead of the ten which have been standard across other seasons.

“From the very beginning, Strange New Worlds set out to honor what Star Trek has always stood for — boundless curiosity, hope and the belief that a better future is possible,” said executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers, and Alex Kurtzman in a statement. “We’re deeply grateful to Paramount+ for the chance to complete our five-season mission, just as we envisioned it, alongside our extraordinary cast and crew. And to the passionate fans who’ve boldly joined us on this journey — THANK YOU. With three more spectacular seasons ahead for you to see and enjoy, this adventure is far from over.”

Although fans may be disappointed to hear the series will come to a close, the final episodes of Strange New Worlds remain a good way off. The show will premiere its third season this summer, with season 4 slated for sometime in 2026. Production on the fifth and final season will begin later this year.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has received a variety of award nominations since its initial launch in 2022. These include nods from the Emmys, Critics Choice, and Saturn Awards.

Strange New Worlds follows Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the starship Enterprise in the 23rd century as they carry out missions and explore new worlds. The series is set a decade before the events of Star Trek: The Original Series

Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will premiere on Paramount+ with two episodes on July 17. After that, new episodes will release weekly on Thursdays until the season finale on September 11.
