Whovians, get ready for a one-of-a-kind experience at San Diego Comic-Con this year. Doctor Who will host an immersive off-site activation that will take fans deep into the heart of the Black Archive.
The Black Archive is UNIT’s top-secret classified facility, storing the most dangerous alien artifacts and technology. The Archive featured prominently in Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary special.
The SDCC experience will feature a fully immersive pop-up with props from the sci-fi series’ 60 year history. Guests will enroll in UNIT and receive a clearance badge to access the Black Archive. This will also lead them to encounter some of Doctor Who’s most terrifying monsters, including a Dalek Mutant, Cybermen, and the Silence.
As an added bonus, for two hours each evening, the Black Archive will transform into a thrilling mission where fans will assist the Doctor by uncovering hidden clues and secrets from within the Whoniverse. Those who can complete the mission will be rewarded with an exclusive SDCC prize.
In addition to the Black Archive walkthrough, the pop-up will also feature an exclusive merch shop and a photo op inside the Fifteenth Doctor’s TARDIS.

“We’re incredibly proud to bring the Whoniverse to life at San Diego Comic-Con in such an ambitious and immersive way,” said Callie Bryan, Head of Marketing, Doctor Who. “From the Black Archive to the TARDIS, exclusive merchandise and a global digital mission, this experience is designed to celebrate the legacy of Doctor Who while inviting fans everywhere to be part of its future.”
The experience promotes both Doctor Who and its upcoming spinoff series, The War Between the Land and the Sea. Fans headed to San Diego this summer may also want to swing by the official Comic-Con Museum, which is currently hosting a Doctor Who exhibit.
