The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants just revealed the first trailer for the upcoming adventure. Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon have teamed up again for another tale from Bikini Bottom. The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants sees SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star travelling to the underworld to face the Flying Dutchman. He’s been a recurring antagonist for the heroes, but this time he’s getting an upgrade.
Over the course of four movies, audiences have gotten used to the flow of SpongeBob Movie. The scale is grander, the jokes are well-animated, and there’s just a lot of fun to be had with the cute little sponge from the bottom of the sea. Brian Doyle-Murray actually doesn’t voice the Flying Dutchman this time around. Mark Hamill will prove to be the thorn in SpongeBob’s side. Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Clancy Brown, Roger Bumpass and Carolyn Lawrence are back as the Bikini Bottom gang. Check out the trailer right here.

SpongeBob’s cast for this one is getting some extra star-power as well. Mr. Lawrence, George Lopez, Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston, and Arturo Castro are all slated to star. Sherry Cola, Regina Hall, and Mark Hamill also play roles. Derek Drymon is directing The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants. Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman wrote the screenplay. Marc Ceccarelli helped make the story along with Kaz and Pam Brady.
Paramount has a new synopsis for the movie! “SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom friends set sail in their biggest, all-new, can’t miss cinematic event ever…The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. Desperate to be a big guy, SpongeBob sets out to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs by following The Flying Dutchman – a mysterious swashbuckling ghost pirate – on a seafaring comedy-adventure that takes him to the deepest depths of the deep sea, where no Sponge has gone before.”
