Have you ever heard the noise of the Aztec Death Whistle? It’s horrifying. One of the worst things I can imagine hearing. So it’s surprising that someone hasn’t made a horror movie surrounding that whistle and its powers, but that stops today. Director COrin Hardy and writer Owen Egerton have crafted Whistle. Here’s the teaser trailer.
Whistle stars Dafne Keen, Sophie Nélisse, Sky Yang, Jhaleil Swaby, Ali Skovbye, Percy Hynes White, Michelle Fairley, and Nick Frost. The story follows A misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits will summon their future deaths to hunt them down. As the body count rises, the friends investigate the origins of the deadly artifact in a desperate effort to stop the horrifying chain of events that they have set in motion.
Whistle releases in theaters in 2026. It comes from IFC Films and Shudder.
It’s been a great year for horror movies for Shudder and it only looks like they’re expanding upon those theatrical offerings with Whistle.
