The Masters of the Universe have been a bit quiet lately. However, that all changes with some news from THR. They’re reporting that Kristen Wiig is joining the cast of Masters of the Universe as the voice of Roboto.
The film is now in post-production and based on the world-famous toy line from the 1980s and the popular cartoon of the same era. It centers on Prince Adam of Eternia who turns into He-Man with the power of his sword, the Power Sword. He has an assortment of allies that fight the evil of Skeletor and his armies.
Roboto is built by Man-at-Arms and part of the group known as the Heroic Warriors. The character has a transparent metal body that allows people to see the inner gears and workings. Roboto also has one arm that features interchangeable parts like an axe, a laser gun, and a claw. The character has traditionally been voice by a male actor, so this is the first time that they’ll be voiced by a woman.
