COLLABORATING WITH KESHA AND EVE ON “KPOPPED”

That Hashtag Show: What was it that excited you guys about being on the show?

JO1: The most exciting thing was the collaborations with two super artists, EVE and Kesha.

That Hashtag Show: What was it like collaborating with them?

JO1: We had to speak in English. We speak in a way that’s a little bit difficult to communicate. But EVE and Keisha are very kind. They have super energy. They gave us a lot of power and kindness. We can get this power and we can create good things on the stage.

THE DYNAMICS OF SPLITTING INTO TWO TEAMS

That Hashtag Show: What was that dynamic like with the group having to split up?

JO1: I saw the other members performing for the first time. And they were all so much taller, like two meters and above, and I think that was because I was able to see it from a different angle than usual.

That Hashtag Show: What was it like getting to really watch the other members perform without you?

Answer: When I was watching the performances, there’s one thing that came to mind and that is that my biggest rivals, and the people that I did not want to get on the wrong side of, are the other team. That’s how cool everyone looked.

That Hashtag Show: What was it like getting back together and performing on stage after being separated?

JO1: I just felt relief.

That Hashtag Show: Is there one moment while filming that really stood out for you?

JO1: Being able to perform “Love Seeker” not just with the eleven of us but with an additional two was just amazing.

DESCRIBING JO1’S SOUND AND AETHESTIC

That Hashtag Show: For people who are just getting to know JO1, how would you describe your sound and aesthetic?

JO1: We are not K-Pop. We are JO1-Pop. We want to create the new culture so this is JO1’s pop, and I think that this time especially, you’re able to see a little bit of the JO1-Pop.

That Hashtag Show: What does it mean to you that this show could bring new fans all around the world?

JO1: One thing that I am really confident about is that if someone sees us and sees us perform, I think that they will become our fans. That’s how confident I am in JO1 as a group. And the fact that we will be able to reach so many new people through this wonderful TV show, through a global audience, is really exciting, and I hope that people will be able to enjoy the performance globally.

DREAM COLLABORATIONS

That Hashtag Show: If you could collaborate with any other Western artist, is there someone you really would love to do a performance with?

JO1: Bruno Mars. Lauv. Usher. Charlie Puth. Chris Brown. A lot of big names.

All eight episodes of KPOPPED start streaming on Apple TV+ on August 28th.
