Peacock has unveiled the chilling official trailer for its new limited crime drama, Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy. The series dives deep into the horrific true story of John Wayne Gacy, one of America’s most notorious serial killers.
From 1972 to 1978, Gacy murdered at least 33 young men and boys, burying most of his victims in the crawl space beneath his suburban Chicago home. To friends, neighbors, and community members, he appeared to be a model citizen. He was working a respectable job, volunteering, and even entertaining children at parties dressed as his alter ego, “Pogo the Clown.” Behind that façade, however, lurked a calculating predator who managed to evade capture for years.
Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy not only exposes the brutality of Gacy’s crimes but also explores the grief, trauma, and lasting impact on the families and loved ones of his victims. The series goes beyond the headlines, examining the systemic failures, missed opportunities, and societal blind spots that allowed Gacy’s reign of terror to continue unchecked.
