Kiss of the Spider Woman is a fairly peculiar yet deeply dramatic film from director Bill Conden. It’s basically the film adaptation of the 1992 stage musical of the same name, which itself was an adaptation of the 1976 novel of the same name by Argentinian writer Manuel Puig. The whole story is basically a story of Argentina’s Dirty War of 1974-1983, told through the perspective of homosexuality. Alas, the film ended up becoming a box office bomb, grossing a mere $2 million USD against a $30 million USD budget. All in spite of getting fairly positive reviews from critics as well. Perhaps this is a film that deserves a second chance? Well, fortunately, it may soon get it.
Lionsgate is proud to announce that they will soon bring Kiss of the Spider Woman to video on demand (VOD). How soon, you might ask? Well, the VOD electronic sell-through date is on November 11, 2025, with a retail price of $14.99 SD / $19.99 HD.
Curious about what exactly Kiss of the Spider Woman is all about? Well, Lionsgate has an old theatrical trailer for the film to explain that. You can watch it on YouTube, or just look below:
Kiss of the Spider Woman Getting VOD Release on November 11, 2025

Honestly, Kiss of the Spider Woman is a new one for me. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of this film, and the plot already sounds fascinating. A shame about the box office bomb, but at least now it’s going to see a wider audience with this VOD release. Heck, if it goes well enough, maybe it might even get a physical home video release instead of this digital-only release? With the film turning into a cult classic as time passes? Well, we can dream.
