Season two of Hazbin Hotel is halfway through the season on Prime Video. But the hype for it may be the strongest it’s been yet. With a broader storyline, a fuller cast, and a richer world with frankly impressive animation, Hazbin Hotel has certainly upped its game. Character backstories are being revealed, and the music boasts a diverse collection of sound. With the general introductory narrative a first season deals with, this season explores more about Charlie Morningstar’s (Erika Henningsen) dedication to redemption. Especially after it is revealed that Sir Pentious (Alex Brightman) was successfully redeemed at the end of season one.

We sat down to talk to Sam Haft. He composes the music and writes the lyrics for all of the show’s musical numbers. We discussed all things season 2 (up through episode 4), how he thinks his current rankings of popular songs will change, and the shock that “Don’t You Forget (Reprise)” is one of the standout songs from this season so far.
