The Family McMullen

A Familiar Family with New Stories to Tell

Thirty years after The Brothers McMullen captured audiences and won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival; the McMullen family is back. The new film finds Barry McMullen (Edward Burns) navigating midlife and the chaos of raising adult children. While his brother Patrick (Michael McGlone) and sister-in-law Molly (Connie Britton) face their own unexpected romantic entanglements.

Joining the ensemble are Tracee Ellis Ross, Halston Sage, Juliana Canfield, Pico Alexander, and Brian d’Arcy James. Together, they bring a mix of new energy and nostalgia to a story that once redefined indie storytelling.

Behind the Camera

Written, directed, and produced by Burns, The Family McMullen reunites many of the creative forces that helped shape the original. The production team includes producers Ellen H. Schwartz and Aaron Lubin, with cinematography by William Rexer and music from composer Séamus Egan. From the family dynamics to the grounded Long Island setting, the film stays true to Burns’ signature mix of humor, realism, and heart.
