Christian Bale is one of the most legendary actors of this generation, and that resume is only looking to get better. Deadline is reporting that Bale is circling a major role in the upcoming Heat 2. Production begins next year on the sequel to the Michael Mann classic already has Leonardo DiCaprio in a starring role. The movie is based on the novel that Mann co-wrote with Meg Gardiner.
The film is being produced by Mann, Jerry Bruckheimer, Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt and executive producers Shane Salerno and Eric Roth.
As for what role Bale will play, that’s unknown at the moment. It’s been a hot script and casting process with plenty of heavy hitters wanting in on the film. The original saw Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Val Kilmer star in it alongside a legendary ensemble cast. In the time since its release, it’s become a stone-cold classic of film with a global following.
The wrinkle about the novel Heat 2, is that is tells the story of everything that happens to the principal characters before and after the events of the original movie. It jumps between two time periods, the first as Shiherlis (Kilmer in the first movie) tries to evade the police after the bank robbery gone bad, and a second that takes the reader back to 1988 as the crew from the first movie takes on scores across the country. We’ll have to see how the film turns out and who ends up in what roles.
