No longer content with its bi-coastal theme park operation, Universal Parks and Experiences’ ongoing expansion efforts have continued to provide something for everyone. Earlier this year Las Vegas’ Universal Horror Unleashed launched a spot where every night is a Halloween Horror Night. Now the family friendly piece of that puzzle, the Texas-based Universal Kids Resort, is on deck to open in 2026 to thrill the youngsters. If you’re a grown up who still marvels at the dinosaurs of Jurassic World, then what I’m about to tell you is going to clue you into something very special for fellow Camp Cretaceous fans.

Universal Kids Resort’s New Lands Have Finally Been Unveiled

An official Universal Parks and Destinations press release debuted the details, as well as a new update to .the Universal Kids Resort website. Those of you wondering about what the new worlds of wonder and curiosity would entail need not wait further, as this is the starting lineup:

  • DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp
  • Jurassic World Adventure Camp
  • Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom
  • Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
  • DreamWorks’ TrollsFest, DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar
  • The Isle of Curiosity

If you’re a fan of recent additions like Universal Studios Orlando’s DreamWorks Land, then you can see where the appeal to this Texas location lies. Only instead of one corner of the park, it’s an entire destination that deals in these sorts of youthful minded thrills. Just as Universal Horror Unleashed offers a year round, non-coastal source of scares, Universal Kids Resort will extend to youngsters (and their families) that same invitation – except without the fright.

Much as parents who love Shrek and the Minions will be able to share the delight with their children in these attractions, the Jurassic World section offers a unique thrill that isn’t super terrifying. Which leads me to the big reason that this new den of dinosaurs is so exciting; even if it isn’t anywhere near as fast as the VelociCoaster.

Jurassic World Adventure Camp Is Basically Camp Cretaceous IRL

Reading through the attractions in the Jurassic World themed section of Universal Kids Resort was naturally a treat! Anyone who’s watched Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous on Netflix is probably pumping their fist in the air right now, as the Jurassic World Lookout Towers seem very reminiscent of the adventure in the first season.

Those vibes are about to get a lot stronger, and way cuter, thanks one attraction in particular. Check out the details pertaining to the family coaster that’s part of Jurassic World Adventure Camp:

At Jurassic World Adventure Camp, the curious Ankylosaurus, Bumpy, has gone missing, so families will zoom through twists, turns, peaks and valleys on Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster to help find her.

Dear friends and readers, we’re gonna get up close and dangerous with little Bumpy! A fan favorite and dear mascot of the Camp Fam, this mini powerhouse knows how to get into trouble – and we’ll all get to deal with it first hand! Come to think of it, my excitement for this ride leads to another big question: will Bumpy’s presence extend to more park perks – like in-person meet and greets, as well as merchandise?

A dino nerd can dream, can’t he? Universal Kids Resort is set to open in Frisco, Texas at some point in 2026, leaving plenty of time to do just that. Meanwhile, fans can see the conclusion of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory via the debut of Season 4, which arrives on November 20th – only on Netflix.
