The move is the latest for Johansson, who has been in several major franchises now, and has a couple coming up. She’s been in the Jurassic World and Marvel franchises, and now joins with DC on their flagship character.

Also in their story is the report that Zoe Kravitz is unlikely to return as Catwoman for the second film.

As for Scarlett Johansson’s role, that’s also being kept close to the vest. The Batman 2 is set to start production in Spring 2026 for an October 2027 release date. Matt Reeves is directing the film and co-wrote it with Mattson Tomlin.

Johansson is already signed on for The Exorcist with Mike Flanagan, so this means she’s likely to be busy for the foreseeable future.
