Greg Nicotero was an executive producer and much more on the run of The Walking Dead on AMC. The show was a cultural icon, a touchstone, giving people something to look forward to from the zombie infested landscapes. He recently sat down with our friend Brandon Davis on an episode of The Brandon Davis Show, which is currently only available on thebrandondavisshow.com but was provided to ThatHashtagShow for an exclusive preview and breaking news. They previously talked about the reaction of Frank Darabont, the original showrunner, on the series’s biggest moment between Negan & Glenn. This time around, they got up to talking about the future of the series.
With all the spinoffs and side stories going on, people want to see Rick and Daryl on screen again together. Here’s what Greg Nicotero had to say about it.
“Well, CRM is gone but there’s been a lot of talks about that sort of reunion type show where we get a lot of the great characters. We’ve been talking about it for a couple of years, even before… You know, before the Rick and Michonne show, it was supposed to be, it was going to be a movie, we were going to do a Walking Dead movie and then it was, we’ll have six episodes.”
“People wanted to see what happened to Rick. That was it and I think that was the great part about it was the excitement of like, seeing where Rick went and what happened because it was always intended that way. It was always intended that we follow Rick and we see where he goes. He gets on there, look, I sat next to him in the helicopter and we flew up here.”
Either way, this is exciting for fans of The Walking Dead going forward. What do you think about this?
