The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs may be wrapping up its long run on Shudder, but Drive-In Mutants will not be leaving empty handed. Shudder announced today that the series will end with four brand new specials scheduled throughout 2026.
The announcement comes ahead of the show’s official series finale, which airs live tonight, March 6 at 9 PM ET on Shudder and AMC+. As always, Joe Bob Briggs and Darcy the Mail Girl will mark the occasion the only way they know how; with a double feature celebrating the weird and wonderful side of genre cinema. The episode will also hit on demand on March 8.
Four The Last Drive-In Specials
While the long running hosted horror series is ending, the Drive-In is not disappearing entirely. The show will continue with a set of quarterly specials arriving throughout the rest of the year. The first of these, Joe Bob’s Wicked Witchy Wingding, premieres live on April 24 at 9 PM ET as part of Shudder’s annual “Halfway to Halloween” programming event.
The special will feature Joe Bob and Darcy presenting a double feature of occult themed horror films. According to the announcement, the event continues Joe Bob’s long running campaign to make Walpurgisnacht an official American horror holiday. The special will be available on demand beginning April 26 on Shudder and AMC+.
“Joe Bob Briggs has been a Shudder staple since 2018, when his original 13 movie marathon broke the internet,” said Courtney Thomasma, EVP of Linear and Streaming Products at AMC Networks. “Since then, he and Darcy the Mail Girl have continued to delight Shudder fans with double features and seasonal specials tailored to horror buffs and cinephiles alike, always offering plenty of surprises. We look forward to sharing these four new specials with Drive-In Mutants everywhere.”
The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs debuted on Shudder in 2018 and quickly became one of the service’s defining programs. What began as a one night marathon turned into multiple seasons and a steady stream of holiday specials, keeping the tradition of hosted horror alive for a new generation of fans.
Matt Manjourides and Justin Martell of Not The Funeral Home produce the series, with Austin Jennings directing.
Shudder has not revealed the remaining three specials yet, but confirmed they will debut quarterly throughout the rest of 2026.
Will The Last Drive-In Continue Elsewhere?
While nothing official has been announced. Darcy The Mail Girl had this to say on the show supposedly ending.

So while it’s disappointing that the show will no longer be on Shudder. It appears that the Mutant Family has hope for more content in the future.
