BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War is and will be the final season of the anime, and about time too. It’s the anime adaptation of the manga’s final story arc, also called “Thousand-Year Blood War”, by Tite Kubo, which made its run on Shonen Jump all the way back in June 4, 2012. The first cours of this final season of BLEACH began in October 11, 2022; with the English release premiering three years later in May 18, 2025. For us here in NA, that makes it nearly 13 years-long wait between us reading that final manga arc and us finally getting to see the anime adaptation of it. It makes this premiere particularly special. So special that you can not just stream it. You can now watch it in theaters.
Fathom Entertainment is proud to announce that BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity will soon make its theatrical debut. This is essentially the first three episodes of the Thousand-Year Blood War anime series adapted into a single feature-length compilation anime film. Plus, theater-goers will even get “never-before-seen behind-the-scenes content” and an “exclusive interview with creator Tite Kubo” himself as an in-theater bonus featurette.
BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity will head to theaters from June 25 to June 29, 2026. Tickets will go on sale on May 29, 2026 both online and at participating theater box offices (theatre locations are subject to change). Honestly, it feels like this whole event is for the most diehard of BLEACH fans. Why else would you want to watch an anime film that’s just compiling the first three episodes of the anime? Although to be fair, the behind-the-scenes bonus features and the interview with Tite Kubo himself are a nice touch. It’s really up to you to decide if it’s worth going to theaters for.
