Andor actor Adria Arjona has previously been chosen to appear in the Superman follow-up. According to Variety, she beat Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler and Grace Van Patten to a mysterious role in the DC sequel. The outlet had previously reported about auditions happening in Atlanta for a role many are theorizing is Maxina.
The sequel, called Man of Tomorrow, will be directed, written and produced by James Gunn, with David Corenswet back as the Man of Steel. In the sequel, Superman is forced to work with Lex Luther as a bigger evil threatens the planet. The film is set to enter production very soon, with a 2027 release.
Arjona joins an ensemble that also includes Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult playing Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart/Green Lantern.

DC has not commented on her casting nor the role they were auditioned actresses for. If Arjonas is playing Maxima, she’ll appear as the warrior queen from the planet Almerac, who arrives on Earth in the hunt for a suitable mate and quickly sets her sights on Superman. Maxima has been adapted on screen before, appearing in Smallville and Supergirl, played by Charlotte Sullivan and Eve Torres Gracie, respectively; she has never had a role on the big screen before.
Although Arjona has been a long-rumored casting choice (and fan favorite) for Wonder Woman, with many believing they are keeping quiet over her role because she’s set to step into Diana Prince’s shoes.
Arjona is a star on the rise, best known for her role as Bix Caleen in Andor, but her resume also includes Splitsville, Blink Twice, Morbius, and Hit Man. Her next big role is alongside Michael B. Jordan in his remake of The Thomas Crown Affair for Amazon MGM Studios.
Last year, James Gunn took to social media to announce the release date for Man of Tomorrow for July 9th, 2027. The next DC film, Supergirl, will fly into cinemas on June 26, 2026.
