CinemaCon is ready to go out with a bang. The Dog Stars debuted a new trailer for Ridley Scott’s latest. Disney is rolling on the mainstage in Las Vegas right now. They helped kick off the final day of the proceedings with Jacob Elordi’s latest role. The Wuthering Heights star is a lonesome survivor of a tragedy. What’s in store for a grizzled man and his dog?

The Dog Stars is adapted from Peter Heller’s beloved novel. That 2013 book handled themes of isolation, hope and companionship. Scott has managed to circle those themes in the short taste we got up above. Check it out for yourself up top!

The Dog Stars gets a new trailer

The synopsis from Heller’s book reads. “Hig’s wife is gone, his friends are dead, and he lives in the hangar of a small abandoned airport with his dog, Jasper, and a mercurial, gun-toting misanthrope named Bangley.”

“But when a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice ignites a hope deep inside him that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, he flies past his point of no return and follows its static-broken trail, only to find something that is both better and worse than anything he could ever hope for.”

Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, Benedict Wong and Allison Janney all star in the movie. Mark L. Smith wrote The Dog Stars. Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, Mark L. Smith, and Cliff Roberts produce the upcoming film. 

“The Dog Stars” debuts exclusively in theaters August 28.
